Chemical Name

Dialuminum salt of 6-hydroxy-5-(2-methoxy-5- methyl- 4- sulfnphenyl) azo- 2-naphthalene sulfonic acid

 

Prepared from Aluminium Hydroxide & Food colour allura red which is a Orange red synthetic azo dye, to replace Amaranth in the United States of America where it is prohibited.

The food colour may have slightly less allergy/intolerance reaction by aspirin intolerant people and asthmatics than most of the azo dyes, although those with skin sensitivities should be careful about lake allura red.

 USES

 

    * Drugs especially shells of medicinal capsules, syrups & Cosmetics

    * fruit squash, fruit cordial, coloured fizzy drinks, instant puddings, cake mixes, custard powder, soups, sauces, ice cream, ice lollies, sweets, chewing gum, marzipan, jam, jelly, marmalade, mustard, yogurt and many convenience foods together with glycerin, lemon and honey products. 

    * It can also be used with lake brilliant blue fcf, to produce various green shades e.g. for tinned processed peas.
